White Lies

Yeah, i know, we teach our kids to tell the truth and honesty is the best policy, but I really think as a mom, we do have to have our 'white lies' the good ones, for all of our own good and mommy's sanity.  These are a couple of my recent white lies-

1- "Sure buddy, we can get McDonalds, but we have to go thru the drive thru, the inside is closed "(or they are working on the playland, or its a special party in there today when he busts me out saying  Mom, see people just came out the door, it's NOT closed, can we go in?
 Okay, yeah, so it's bad, I'd say I feel bad for it, but honestly, I don't.  Have you ever tried to take 2 wild boys under 4 and a little baby to McDonalds playland?   it's nearly impossible to carry a baby a big tray of food and keep your yahoos from running away, throwing a massive tantrum or getting kidnapped right before your eyes.  You finally figure out a way to get to the table with all the kids and the food only spilling one drink and your sweating.  They never want to eat cause it's just to fun, they want to play!!! then they play, and come back for a bite with their germ infested hands.. I get it, it's fun, it's so fun... and then the 10yr old big kids come in and ransack the place and trample your 2 yr old who is big for his age and they are screaming and making the whole thing shake and are just plain mean to all the little kids.. hey parents.. come on, take your kid to the park or something, they are too big!! geesh, it just makes me angry! Then just try and make the kids leave, um, yeah, that's like WW3!!  Not fun, and this is why i avoid McDonalds playland like the plague!
2- Today Nolan is SO excited to go fishing with Daddy tonight we pull into daycare and he FLIPS out big time, I GO FISHING! i GO FISHING, not school, i fish!!  :(  so.. i pull this out of left field "  Sorry buddy, we are going fishing, but the fishies are alseep during the day, we can't fish til later, daddy is at work, and we will get you and eat dinner then go fish.  Boys who cry aren't allowed to fish either, so come on, get out of the car so we can fish tonight"
 Whatever, it worked, it took 5 full long minutes and me being late for work, but he got out of the car!  But, if you ever need rain, let me make a vacation plan or promise my kids an outside fun time, we are in a bad drought here, and about 15 min ago, it started storming really bad!!  i mean, we need the rain, so i am happy its here, but i feel terrible, nolan will be crushed, hopefully we can reschedule soon and he isn't too upset tonight...nothing a little McDonalds or candy wont fix i bet.  hey.. don't judge, i'm not above bribery..or persuasion.. :)
